I love hard rock! Always have and I can’t seem to absolutely “love” any other genre but rock. And boy, I’ve tried to listen to Jazz, Heavy Metal (and other variants… and I think it’s just Iron Maiden that can actually play pure heavy metal), Alternative, Jazz fusion, Folk Metal, and even House and Blues!
Here’s the weirdest part — I dig the lyrics. Some of my favorite songs have a level of depth that goes beyond the riffs, vocals, and rhythm. Kind of like this song I heard yesterday during my workout. It’s by Beartooth, a hardcore punk rock band (yeah, sometimes those sound cool too!) from Columbus, Ohio.
Here’s an excerpt from the lyrics of “In between”
Up on the mountain I see down below
It’s easy to lose yourself I know
Can’t hear what you’re shouting, I’m deaf to your show
It’s easy to lose your self control
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low
Life can be such overdose
Up on the mountain I see down below
It’s easy to lose yourself I know in the in between
I don’t want to ruin this by overexplaining to adding in my point of view. The verses above say it all. I guess you can tell why (perhaps, one of the reasons why) I love rock music.
Here’s the video for your viewing and listening pleasure. Enjoy!
Just remember this: Everybody gets high, everybody gets low.
