Founds this fantastic post by the good folks at Precision Nutrition!
Some points worth remembering:
- Simple nutrition and lifestyle changes can dramatically improve quality of life — even in older adults.
- It’s not just the number of years you live; it’s how you live them. Good nutrition and lifestyle habits are our best tools to improve health-span.
- Much of what we call “aging” is actually very much an accumulation of lifestyle habits.
- In older age, energy needs decrease but nutrition needs increase.
This is a dense article and must be on your “to-read” list. Better yet, read the damn thing. It’s chockfull of advice and wisdom based on science. There’s a soft sell at the end of the article but you can ignore that… (but I can’t apparently, I’m going in for the Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification this year).
Enjoy! And if possible, pass it on to our loved ones. Especially the ones whom you would like to age gracefully.
