People are more generous that we think

If you’re shaking your head, hear me out. I wasn’t the to believe that myself until I met a few who changed my perspective. More recently, I’ve had the opportunity to interview people for my podcast (to be launched on the 1st of November) where they shared some of their most personal stories during and after the call.

That made me think — could it be that we just aren’t doing our bit to know the other person better? Perhaps, we’re being judgemental or worse, we don’t want to talk to people but talk about them. These are normal behaviours. Almost every person experiences this when their perspective is limited and often bound by the environment around them. And that’s okay. But not forever because that’s a pathetic way to spend our lives. There’s just no joy.

I’ve come to believe that you can find joy in reaching out and getting to know people only if you’re willing to try. And once you do, you’re a changed person. Being a podcast host, I’ve got this amazing opportunity getting to know people (including some of my friends) at a much more deeper level than I’d ever thought. At the end of these calls, I can’t help but feel gratitude for them to be so open and giving.

It’s a kind of thing that changes your perspective forever. All you need to do is try. It doesn’t have to be podcast! A conversation over coffee, beer or pizza would do just fine. Whatever it is, reach out and get to know them.
