I chose to keep quiet but it’s hard to do.
I’m deeply saddened by the George Floyd incident. Its a cold blooded murder that the public chose to witness and capture on video. And now they’re protesting it. I wish people were bold enough to act (as in “do something!”) when that man was gasping for breath. Believe me, it would’ve taken them a lot less energy they’re spending right now protesting the injustice.
I can go on forever but that’s not the point. What happened was tragic. It’s a mockery of human rights and law enforcement agencies that know just to enforce and not protect or restore. I call this gross incompetence. And it’s high time that governments across the worlds do something about it.
But we know about George Floyd because it’s captured on video. What about thousands of cases that go unreported or aren’t filmed? There’s a lot to be done and being a keyboard warrior incessantly tweeting and sharing #BlackLivesMatter messages isn’t going to help.
The change has to happen on the inside. Within our minds, our hearts, and our actions as they speak louder than words. This won’t happen overnight but over time. But it starts right now.
